| First fitting of the tires and wheels has gone very
well as far as fir on the car. Next step will be fitting with the
front fenders on the car. The rear tires are about 1/8" clear
of the leaf spring at the back. This is acceptable but with the
addition (eventually) of rear disc brakes, will increase the
clearance by about .2". Even given that fact there is a lot of
room to push the tire out towards the quarter panel lip. In
retrospect I could easily run a 335/35/17 size tire (up to about
1" wider tire) offset would be custom, however to make this
work. The flip side to this, is that the current rear tire can be
run with the car slammed really low to the ground, without rubbing
issues.
The front rims look okay for clearance, until the front fenders
are on the car I won't know for sure. One thing that bugs me is the
grease cap sticks out past the wheel center cap opening. I don't
know how to deal with this yet. It's annoying, but I'll put it on
the back burner as there is a lot of work to do on the car. I am
also a little concerned about how many threads are spun on the wheel
studs, as the wheel has a thick midsection.
All in all the wheels look pretty good though! |
