McDonnell Douglas C-17A Globemaster III

Despite being from a new manufacturer, the modern day bigger brother to the Lockheed C-130 Hercules is the Globemaster III. Designed for delivering heavy loads and achieve STOL performance on semi prepared surfaces the C-17A uses a flap system which enhances engine lift. The Globemaster III made it's first flight on September 15th 1991. Perhaps it will see the success of it's predecessor the Douglas C 124 Globemaster II.
