The Fire Bombers
The Fire Bombers, are are incredible group of pilots who fly through the often rugged terrain of British Columbia, trying to keep an upperhand against the sometimes raging forest fires covering this large province. This summer of 1998 there were over 600 major forest fires to deal with just within B.C. Coupled with the 40 C. temperatures, this made for a nearly impossible task, at times. The term "Water Bomber" refers to planes which drop water, "Fire Bomber" refers to planes which drop retardant.
Among these are the Martin Mars, the world's largest flying boat water bomber, with a wing span of 200'.
Coming soon the helos.
