Pacific Thunder

Welcome to Pacific Thunder and our 1967 Mustang Project Car

It my hope that eventually this car will end up being  a high quality finished product, nice enough to participate in cruise events and car shows. Look for us there, and take the opportunity to get more information about Muscular Dystrophy or even donate a small amount of money to Muscular Dystrophy Canada. We hope that in viewing this site you will take a little time to educate yourself about neuromuscular disorders. Enjoy the site and come back again to check up on our progress.

February 19 2008; Quick update on what has been going on the last few days. I repaired the damaged rear wiring harness, new connectors, insulators. I installed the wiring harness, and ran it to the dash. Then I installed the rear portion of the brake ducting, and one hose. I painted the dash, steering column and ashtray. I laid out the dash pad, and installed one dash cushion.
February 14 2008; A slight change of focus. I started rust proofing inside the frame rails with wax and oil. After installing the new back up lights, I protected the back of the car with bubble wrap. I pulled out the wiring and made plans for electrical hook up.
February 13 2008; I continued work on the valance which included installation of the trim rings and reconditioning of the back up lamps. Installed the quarter extensions and bumper. I have a little bit of detail work to go on this section.
February 12 2008; Completed installing the taillight panel last night. It took a heckuva lot longer than anticipated, as a lot of things seem to do. A few details left to work out, and I hope to move to the lower valance next.
February 11 2008; Emergency cut my mustang time short, but I managed a little time on the rear light panel.
February 10 2008; I did not do much until Sunday night. I had some problems fitting the trunk Friday and Saturday, but managed to sleep on it and solve the problem with the weather-strip. I have the trunk fitting very close now. I also installed the gas tank, trunk key, and filler tube. All in all a decent weekend for accomplishments.
February 8 2008; I picked up a whole bunch more of parts from the paint shop and mounted the trunk, installed the weather-strip. There are some difficulties with the fitment of the fiberglass trunk because of the weather-strip, but I hope to have those sorted out today.
February 7 2008; Continuing to sound proof the trunk area of the car, about 60% done now. I also installed the functional brake duct inlets in the quarter panel scallops. I installed the aluminum block off plates over the stock tail light openings to seal them up from exhaust gases entering the car.
February 6 2008; Yes more sound proofing, today the rear trunk got major attention and several layers of sound proofing where the subwoofer will reside. I also cut some light aluminum block off plates for the stock taillights as we will be using the Shelby sequential LED lights.
February 5 2008; Today was more sound proofing on the rear inner quarter panels, mostly on the passenger compartment area and inner wheel wells. I cut the fuel filler tube properly, welded the roll bar, did some caulking on key areas of the body.
February 4 2008; I did not get as much done as I'd have liked today. I mounted the interior trim supports for the fastback area and we repaired the loose horn mount and looked at the gas tank supply tube fit.
February 3 2008; More time soundproofing, this time two layers of Reflectix foil insulation under the roof. Then I went to work on the underside of the cowl, parts of the dash metal, and the kick panels. I then finished off some areas which needed more rust-proofing attention. This should be dry by tomorrow and can then be sound proofed.
February 1 2008; I picked up some "blue skin" and spent about 1.5 hours on the underside of the roof. Put three layers on. I am hoping to sneak in a few hours more this weekend.
January 31 2008; Today was installing the wiper arms and motor. The wiper posts had red over-spray all over them so had to be cleaned up. I sealed the bolt through cowl holes with a dab of black silicone and used rope caulk around the wiper lever seals. I didn't get as much done as I thought, but screwed down the four oval floor plates just to finish off.
January 30 2008; I actually "think" I did more tonight. It took maybe a little longer though. I touched up the grey zero rust on the underside of the chassis near the engine compartment. There was a lot of blue overspray, and I want the underside of the car to look good too!
After that I primed the four tin caps that cover the openings in the floor boards.
Next I installed the cowl repair kit plastic hats (my cowl was in fairly good condition except for the "hats")
January 29 2008; This is day zero of reassembly. Honestly it seemed like I did not get much done, but I tried to be patient. I picked up some 5/16" stainless bolts and washers for vulnerable areas. Stopped by the body shop to talk to the painter. I dove up into the attic and brought a number of parts and pieces down to the garage, Picked up a few of my tools from the other garage. Bought some rubber gloves and misc. items I was short of. Picked up some bubble wrap to protect the newly painted surfaces, and some satin black paint for the dash. I removed the new wheels and put the TT-2's back on. I only had time tonight to redo the bottom inside of the cowl with black zero-rust. It was painted white from the stripes overspray. It looks good. Tomorrow we'll see which direction I will go in!

Nearly the whole site has been updated with hundreds and hundreds of images. Check out the project pages for updates on the bodywork, electronics, wheels and tires and more!

Today Thunder (the 1967 GT 500 Shelby Tribute car) is in the paint shop getting primer, and ready for the engine bay paint!

Please be patient as the pages are updated over the next few weeks.

Have fun checking out our 1967 Mustang project car. As it progresses, there will be more pictures and more information. We are guessing that it will take 3 to 4 years or more to complete this car. Lots of money. Lots of time, and lots of elbow grease! Hopefully we are able to build this car sooner, and get out there promoting public awareness as soon as possible.
